Getting Paid with Stripe Connect
ArtComms integrates with Stripe Connect to provide a secure, professional, and compliant way for you to receive payments directly from clients.
Why Stripe Connect?
- You Own Your Reputation: You get your own dedicated Stripe Merchant account. This builds your credit history and reputation independent of our platform.
- Direct Payouts: Funds are deposited directly into your bank account on a rolling basis (usually 2 days). We do not hold your money.
- Global Support: Accept credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and localized payment methods from clients worldwide.
- Tax Compliance: Stripe generates 1099-K tax forms for you automatically if you meet the thresholds.
Setting Up
To start accepting payments, you must link a Stripe account.
- Go to Settings > Billing & Payouts.
- Click Connect with Stripe.
- Follow the onboarding flow to verify your identity and bank details.
Professional Invoicing
Once connected, you can issue official Stripe Invoices directly from your commission dashboard. These are not just simple payment links—they are legally compliant invoices suitable for professional work.
Features
- ✓Itemized Lines: Break down costs (e.g. "Sketch Phase", "Commercial Rights").
- ✓Tax Collection: Configure automatic sales tax calculation based on the client's address.
- ✓Due Dates: Set payment terms like "Due on Receipt" or "Net 30".
- ✓PDF Records: Both you and the client get a downloadable PDF for accounting.
How to Create an Invoice
- Navigate to the Commission Dashboard.
- Scroll to the Invoices section.
- Click Create Invoice (blue button).
- Fill in the line items and client details.
- Click Send. The client will receive an email and a notification on the platform.
💡 Pro Tip: Manual vs. Professional
Quick Requests are good for simple deposits. Use Professional Invoices for final payments, commercial projects, or when the client requires a tax invoice.
Fees & Disputes
Processing Fee: Stripe charges standard processing fees (typically 2.9% + 30¢) which are deducted automatically.
Disputes (Chargebacks): Because you are the merchant of record, you are responsible for handling disputes. However, using our Commission Workflow (Contracts, Approval Steps, Delivery Logs) provides strong evidence to win disputes if they occur.
